A bilingual education program is a full-time instructional program that addresses the language, cognitive, and affective needs of emergent bilingual students. The instructional pathway uses both the students' home language and English as the medium to develop academic content and the English language.

Different Program Models

The program models offered in Alief ISD are:

• One Way Dual Language Program provides a Spanish-English program to Spanish dominant students.

• Two Way Dual Language Program provides the opportunity for native English speakers and native Spanish speakers to learn Spanish and English together. They will learn how to speak, read and write in Spanish beginning in Kindergarten via a commitment until completion of Grade 6 in an effort to develop full bilingualism and bi-literacy.
